NYFW Spring '12 collections have been more than appealing, but just outright appetizing!!! I have viewed a few shows this week (via front row of my iPad-the best seat in the house). From DVF to Cynthia Rowley to MMJ. Even Rachel Zoe's debut Spring Collection was a delicious, surprise, but by far the most breath taking runway experience came from Tory Burch!!! Although, her line can sometimes be a little conservative and stuffy, she always offers classic pieces and for the spring collection she really turned up the volume and offered such a variety for all girls-chic and classic! I'm in Love-see for yourself. Tory proves she is more than just a pair of iconic flats! She's got a new fan in me!

Fall has arrived at Anthro!!! Anthropologie in Chevy Chase, DC hosted a fall fashion show, highlighting some of their eclectic hits for Fall 2011! Lush colors, beautiful booties, and lots of cozy knits! And did I mention how cute the hair adornments were? They were really funky and creative! I am so in love with Fall! Complex Geometries

As of late, I've really been into drapey knits and easy to wear pieces, that are figure conscience, given my current state of being. With that said, may I introduce a new designer, to me, Clayton Evans, the man behind my new fave: Complex Geometries! I first discovered this cleverly named clothing and accessory line here(another new love) and found that this line was quite popular, as most of the pieces I spied were either sold out or not available in my size-bummer, but I was still hopeful (as customer service promised to inform me when items were back in stock-gotta love small business, customer service). The Complex line offers clever cowl necks, asymmetrical lines, and multifunctional pieces!!! And the jewelry is simple and chic as well. The line is not too flashy, but definitely leaves a lasting impression...Check out some of my highlights, all of which transition well from Summer to Fall...

New music alert...Little Dragon has released their latest album Ritual Union. I discovered Little Dragon last summer while grooving to a Pandora mix(J*Davey-check them out too) and was pleasantly, caught off guard when I discovered this big voice, coming from a little woman. I was immediately taken!!! Little Dragon is a mix of electronica, soul, and acid jazz(does anyone remember that music genre). Check it out for yourself here! Some of my highlights on this latest installment include the title track: Ritual Union, Nightlight, and Brush the Heat. Now, I realize this may be an acquired, musical taste, but open your ears and broaden your horizons and check out Little Dragon! Great musicians and great lyrics! And I hear they are even more awesome in concert! I plan on checking them out next time they are in my city, how about you? You're in for an ear-full-surprise!!!

I'm baaack!!!!!!! Vacay was excellent! Caught up on some reading, had some mock-tails, and lounged beach side...What more could one ask for(pics and highlights to come)? While reading through all my fashion mags, I couldn't help but pick up on one common denominator--Nude Hues--a staple for Fall '11!!! I personally am in love with the flesh tones, especially when it comes to the shoes! Nudes are a great transition item and work on just about any skin tone-Who Knew?! Not really sure how the Nudes will work for you? Go for a soft pink shade instead; same effect and still works for fall! I got these for a steal of a deal at Bloomies! Not sure when I will be wearing them given my current state, but that's the thing about Nudes, they are timeless and a wardrobe staple. One cant go wrong with this muted tone! One Fall-Fabulous Color!!!

As fall approaches, my fashion eye can't help but take in all the fun, fall, vibrant colors!!! At the top of my list of Must Have Fall items...Orange Pants!!! I first caught a wonderful glimpse here, at a great blog Coco+Kelley! I am really loving the color orange as of late. It's so festive, bright, and warm! It looks great against most skin tones and pairs fantastically with fuchsias, emerald greens, and electric blues-all top colors for fall! Try a cigarette pant like this one or go for a wide leg, like this one! At this point, I'm not really able to get into either style, but here's hoping for late fall and even early winter(baby weight blues). Bonita Applebum, Check the Rhyme, Buddy, Scenario, and the list goes on...Not sure who or what in the world Im talking about??? Well, get familiar with A Tribe Called Quest, if you aren't already! ATCQ are pioneers in the spoken rhyme and jazz sampling in the hip-hop world. They are one of my favorite hip hop groups of all time and when I got wind of a documentary in their honor, I was more than pumped! The Low End Theory was my high school soundtrack! With all that said...the Tribe doc is finally here!!! One of my besties(good looking, EB) in NYC sent word my way that ATCQ documentary was being released in NY and LA today! I can't wait til it comes to DC (July 15th) and go here for more release dates. I am anxious to see how Michael Rapaport put it all together. I know I will be nodding my head for the next week to all their greatest, including one of my faves, Left My Wallet In El Segundo and speaking of which, when you are in LA, you should check out the new El Segundo(see this post) and while you're driving with your sunroof back, pump some ol' skool jams!!!

I'm needing this in my perfume collection

July is my birthday month, which I seem to be talking about a lot, as of late, but I think I'm owed the right to do so on my one, very special day of the year(although, I must say I have a lot of special days and I'm so grateful for them all). However, on this special day, the birthday, I think it's only fitting and appropriate to solicit, special gifts...I'm not asking for much, as it's not a major milestone bday, but at the top of my wishlist is the newest fragrance from Maison Martin Margiela, appropriately named Untitled and exclusively available at Saks! Longing to be here...The Viceroy Anguilla

It's Friday and it's the first day of July which means...It's MY BIRTHDAY MONTH!!!! Blake and his Toms

Dear Tom aka Blake Mycoskie(founder),
I must admit, I truly was not a fan, initially of your ever so popular, karate shoe inspired, charitable contribution of a shoe, better known as the Tom-Classic Flat! I would often spy them on hippie, granola types and think to self-those are some saaad looking shoes, until I was in Nordstrom one day and decided, hmmm...let me see what these shoes are really talking about! Well, that was last summer and boy did I have a change of heart once I stepped foot into these little dandies!! Talk about comfy-chic!!! Comfort, being the most important thing on my list these days, I just couldnt resist the Tom, especially this sparkly little number! More and more I started to see them on the trendiest of hipsters and thought hey, Im totally on the late bus and now that I've hopped on, there's no turning back!!! I now own two pair, red and gold, and am eyeing the black glitters, which will be perfect for my trip home from vacay and baby #2 delivery(yes, Im already planning my outfit home). I just scored this camoflaged pair for my little tyke, who, like his momma, already loves him some shoes! The husband is not so convinced, but I he did tell me he went looking on the website, "just browsing", he said, but they didnt have his size(note to Blake, you may want to consider going up to a size 16 for men-there are lots of tall fellas out there, who love a little fashion and comfort). All in all, I have been very pleased with my Toms( clearly Im a fan here, here, and here) and I must say the lesson learned...Never say Never, because one never knows what will end up on your feet!!!

The Return of a Classic

Back in the day Coach bags were my Sugar.Honey.Iced.Tea!!!! I had my fair share and thank goodness I salvaged a couple of my great ones(i.e. Duffle Sack, Doctor's Bag) because low and behold, what's old is now new and revived, again!!! I realize everything does circulate, but this is unbelievable that in my lifetime, I am witness to a classic being reborn to whole new generation of "it" girls and fashionistas!!! Case and point, Ms. Whitney Port of The Hills and The City fame, was caught rocking none other than the very classic Coach Stewardess bag, which along with some other greats are now available here. I could hardly believe my eyes, I picture her to be more of a Chanel or Prada toting, kind of girl, but I know she has a vintage swag, so it totally makes sense to see her rocking the classic and hey, she probably found hers right in her momma's closet-I'm sure most of you wouldn't need to look much further than that. All that said, Coach continues to be a staple in the handbag game and they definitely plan to stick around!!! I'll be pulling my Duffle out for Fall for sure!!! Fun Food!!

Looking for a fun, seafood, dining experience that's both affordable and family friendly??? Try Tackle Box!!!!!! My little, expanding family recently tried out this Lobster Shack, which just recently opened its second location in Cleveland Park, for Father's day and boy what a treat it was! The husband had the ever so popular Lobster Roll( Warm w/ Butter) and I had grilled shrimp with a lemon garlic aioli sauce(OMG) and the little one had his fave, fries and nuggets and he tore those fries up!!!! The whole dining experience goes a little something like this: choose your fish, from a menu of many, then pick your sides and sauce; get a lobster buzzer, oh and did I forget to mention they have a small bar too( I had my ever so popular with the bartenders, Virgin Margarita-which no one wants to make these days); get buzzed and enjoy!!! As of late, I have really been attracted to animal prints, leopard spots in particular! But I do know to keep it simple, as I stated here and keep animal prints to a minimum. Mixing prints is definitely the fashion forward thing to do, but I'm still not sold on mixing my felines! In the meantime, I thought I'd start with my accessories like this and this... I recently came across a great find at a small, but very meaningful online boutique-Pour Porter(thanks Jiggy). Pour Porter offers great stylings from under the radar designers, like Reid-Damnit and others. They also have great customer service(one of the owners, Brannan always sends a personal note with your purchase) and did I mention how speedy the shipping was and they use US Postal(not my fave at the moment, but it will do), which is not usually the fastest, but my item was ordered Friday and received Monday-Win-Win!! I've been quite pleased with my purchases and definitely see a trend happening with my accessories!

Last weekend I explored my own closet and stumbled upon a pair of classics that are on par with the Wood Sole/ 70's trend for this Summer...My very cute, red, Dr. Scholls-forever destined to be a classic! Well, with that I was inspired to look more into this trend, of which I was pleasantly surprised at how many of my fav's were now on sale-always a Win!!! The big look right now is the FlatForm, like this one from Vena Cava! The wood bottom adds a simple, chic look and not to mention, comfy ( I know that's hard to imagine, but trust me they are) look to jazz up your Summer wardrobe! Two of my favorite things to do...And the new 14th street corridor has a lot of both!!! Shop small, one of a kind boutiques like Redeem and Rue 14 or go vintage at Treasury. Looking for the perfect card or special trinket? Go for Pulp, one of my fav's for sure! And if you are looking to earn a buck and shop too try out the brand spakin' new to 14th, Current Boutique! This is the third installment, of great consigning to the DC metro area! Not only do they consign, but they also sell new, cute, trendy wears too! You just can't lose! Now, on to the eating!!! The options are becoming ever more endless along this corridor, so I will highlight my most recent dining spot and let you explore the rest...May I introduce you to El Centro D.F. a Taqueria from famed chef Richard Sandoval! Translation...Yummy tacos and tequila(although I couldnt indulge in the tequila, but the margaritas sure looked good-for now I will have to settle for a virgin, which the kindly obliged). Along with scrumptious, corn tortilla filled tacos, you will find chipotle shrimp concoctions and homemade guac, reminiscent of Rosa Mexicana- I was in my zone...Mexican is my all time favorite! Good food, great atmosphere-Win-Win!!! Definitely worth adding to you list of new DC eateries to explore!!! Shop and Dine-The perfect combo!!!!

Skirts have really been on my radar for the upcoming season and I apparently am not alone! The next hot thing in skirt wear are Accordion Pleats! These little numbers have quite a vintage appeal and if you love the look, but don't want to spend the bucks, check out one of your local vintage/thrift shops, like this one, which was an all time fave of mine while in undergrad, with little spending money! Marc by Marc Jacobs scored big with this trend last spring/summer and I was fortunate enough to score this little number for less than nothing-it was quite a steal! So, Ive just stumbled upon two great new designers and I think I'm in Love!!!! Have you heard about The Addison Story or Something Else by Natalie Wood??? Both are two that are new to me and quite fabulous, I might add! Let's start with The Addison Story...I first discovered them in Neiman's Spring Catalog when I spied this dress-Love it! Their line to me evokes a vintage quality-very easy, laid back, fun, flirty, and flouncy! And the price point ($60-250) ain't so bad, either. You can find them locally carried at Rue14 and online here and here. You are sure to be pleased! Next up, Something Else! On a recent trip into one of my local fav's Redeem, I scoped all my usual suspects, Funktional, Kai-Aakmann, etc., I spotted, Something Else that quickly caught my attention! Like little pieces of clothing art, Natalie Wood, designer/artist reigns from down-under-Australia and brings her creative talents to the main land! Clothing with an edge is just how I would describe it! Easy to wear tees, tanks, sweaters, and dresses! Definitely worth checking out here! Need a little eye candy convincing??? Here ya go....

Santa Monica Pier

Did you miss me??? I know I have been MIA for a few days, well a week, but for good reason! My family and I were on a Spring Vacation to my homeland of Los Angeles and then off to Vegas for a Very Special Vegas Wedding, Baby!!! And, my baby made his debut as the ring bearer du jour!!! (And he did a good job, too). Yes, I was in LaLa land and made it to all my favorite eateries, including In an; Out, Fatburger, and Roscoe's and even worked in a new spot, that was quite delish: Paul Martin's in El Segundo( which is truly the new it area in town). If you make it there, be sure and try the Linguine with Prawns...OH MY Lord, it was divine! My hubby and I also managed to work in a trip to the LA Zoo with our fabulous 2 year-old and Santa Monica Pier (I also checked out the new outdoor shopping center too--very nice, worth checking out). Then we were off to Vegas, where we stayed in the bright and attractive City Center at the Aria(rooms were fab, but the vanilla pumping through the lobby/casino drove me nuts, could be the pregnancy, but mostly it was just over the top). If you are all about the high-end retail, then City Center is for you! And if you are getting hitched anytime soon, and you want a Vegas wedding minus all the glitz and lights, you should definitely check out the Springs Preserve(which is where my friend's wedding was held--BEAUTIFUL and unexpected for Vegas). It was an amazing, relaxing, tummy-filling trip! Makes me want to be on Spring Break at least once a month!!!

Before signing off, I have to send out a great big ol' congratulations to the newlyweds, Dyan and Derrick! It was a perfect affair and we wish you all the best in Love and Life as you venture into the journey of Marriage together!

Another fab vintage shop just recently sprouted in the LA vicinity!!!! All you lucky Cali girls who are all about your vintage finds, this is for you!!! I will be making my way to my homeland at the end of the week for family, friends, FOOD and fun(wedding in Vegas, baby) and it is sure to be a great vacay!!! Unfortunately, the new shop, did I mention it by name yet? No!! Telltale Heartbeat, is only open Wed-Sat, boo-hiss!!! These hours don't work for me and if you are in the same boat you are in luck, because their online shop is looking real good!!! I first learned about the Telltale here. And I was truly taken in by all the pictures of the featured jewels and gems that were featured and they were ALL available online-Score(but going fast, only downside of buying Vintage)!!!!! Celebs are going Dutch!

These days who isn't on a budget, right? Well, if you have a few dollars to spare and are looking for some comfortable, footcandy, try on these perfect little clogs!! When I visited Amsterdam last summer I was on the search for the perfect clog and what better place than the land of wooden shoes--I just knew I would be in luck; much to my surprise, no luck. Since then I have been on the hunt for some wooden, noise makers! I love Sweedish Hasbeens and almost scored a very reasonably priced pair here, but talked myself out of them, since I was soon to head to Amsterdam(bad decision). Oh, well, I got over it and then I saw the No.6 clogs and whew, I was in Clog-Heaven!!!
