Two of my favorite things to do...And the new 14th street corridor has a lot of both!!! Shop small, one of a kind boutiques like Redeem and Rue 14 or go vintage at Treasury. Looking for the perfect card or special trinket? Go for Pulp, one of my fav's for sure! And if you are looking to earn a buck and shop too try out the brand spakin' new to 14th, Current Boutique! This is the third installment, of great consigning to the DC metro area! Not only do they consign, but they also sell new, cute, trendy wears too! You just can't lose! Now, on to the eating!!! The options are becoming ever more endless along this corridor, so I will highlight my most recent dining spot and let you explore the rest...May I introduce you to El Centro D.F. a Taqueria from famed chef Richard Sandoval! Translation...Yummy tacos and tequila(although I couldnt indulge in the tequila, but the margaritas sure looked good-for now I will have to settle for a virgin, which the kindly obliged). Along with scrumptious, corn tortilla filled tacos, you will find chipotle shrimp concoctions and homemade guac, reminiscent of Rosa Mexicana- I was in my zone...Mexican is my all time favorite! Good food, great atmosphere-Win-Win!!! Definitely worth adding to you list of new DC eateries to explore!!! Shop and Dine-The perfect combo!!!!

It's On and Pop-Up!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, given the state of our current economic affairs, the retail industry has done some revamping and restructuring! Case and point, I was in recently in the Gap and it was quickly brought to my attention that some items I had purchased were marked, "final sale." Ok. But the sales associate was very clear in letting me know that the black and white tags meant final sale and could not be returned! Whoa! Not a problem, I thought to myself, but clearly the company had to do some rethinking on how to regain financial loss! With that said, I was recently introduced (thanks Jiggy-A) to the Pop-Up Shop! What the heck? Well, fashion designers and retailers have thought of a clever way to make a buck, sell merchandise, and do it fast...The answer...Pop-Up Shops! Forbes magazine featured the concept in their February 08 issue. The concept? Well known designers(Rachel Pally, Earnest Sewn) and retailers wanted to create a cool, small space to showcase items for a limited time. Prices are usually the same and items are current. The catch is the smaller version store will only be around for 1-2 months! So, one must act fast. Pop-Up shops have taken off and become very popular in L.A. and NYC and one recently came to live here in DC! Redeem boutique, located on the oh so happening 14th street corridor recently hosted a Pop-up launch for De*nada knit wear(very cute, hand-crafted knit scarves and gloves) and will be housing the indy label for the next two months and it's defiknitly worth checking out!

Something Rue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy New Year!!!! What better way to ring in 2009, but with a new boutique! Rue 14 is the latest fashion post to hit the 14th street corridor! It is packed with a punch and won't put a major dent in your wallet either! Rue 14 is a fresh addition to the up and Ust corridor. With its hues of gray and yellow(very cute combo) and fashion forward labels, both old and new ( Love Quotes, Plastic Island, Alternative Apparel) for both men and women, you are sure to find something you cant live without! And the accessories are ooh la la! Tres Chic! Manifique! Ok, that's about all the french I can give you...Craving more??
