It's Black Love Month!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
February means love and celebration! It's a time for loving the one your with(although, everyday should be) and it's a time to celebrate African-Americans and their achievements! Today introduces an exhibit that promises both love and celebration: Tavis Smiley presents America I Am: The African American Imprint. Here's a little info: Take a journey through trials and triumphs while exploring nearly 500 years of African American contributions to the economic, political, cultural, and spiritual development of the United States. Bear witness to more than 200 poignant artifacts from the dungeon doors of the Cape Coast Castle in Ghana to Prince’s guitar.
The exhibit, hosted by the National Geographic Museum, starts today and runs until May 1st. It is sure to be one worth checking out; I most certainly will be. How will you celebrate this month? Whatever you do, do it with LOVE!!!

Fallen Angel!!!!!!!!!!!!

It goes without saying, we have truly lost a gem in the untimely death of the most gracious, Lena Horne.
An unbelievable talent a
nd beauty, who just seemed to get more beautiful with age. Lena Mary Calhoun Horne, was born June 30, 1917 in Brooklyn and went on to become a celebrated screen and stage jewel in the African-American community. Activist for change, Ms. Horne participated in many movements of the 1960's, including the March on Washington! Read more about the life and contributions of Ms. Horne here. She celebrated her last Mother's Day, May 9, 2010. She was truly one of the greats and will truly be missed.

Plenty of Tracy Reese!!!!!

The next designer I would like to feature comes from the motor city of Detroit!!!! Tracy Reese is one of my favorite African-American designers who is quickly making her mark in the fashion world. Tracy's designs are fun, flirty, and pieces you are sure to have in your closet and pass down to your loved one! Tracy has an eye for textured fabrics and vintage style! Not only does she offer a high-end, couture signature line, she also has her Plenty line, which continues with the same quality as the Tracy Reese Collection, with a more contemporary and moderate price point! It's definitely worth checking out http://www.tracyreese.com/ and http://www.plentybytracyreese.com/ You can find both collections at Nordstrom, Saks, and Bergdorf Goodman. The Plenty line is also carried in Anthropologie, Cusp, and Barney's Coop. And Ms. Reese recently opened her own boutique in the fashionable meat-packing district of Manhattan. I myself love the Plenty line! But you be the judge! You are sure to be in for a treat!!!!!!!

Live long and Dress Well!!!!!!!!!
